Algeria, France ink security MoU

Xinhua, May 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Algeria and France signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Sunday for support the training of police officials and the exchange of security experiences.

The memorandum was signed in Algiers between Abdelghani Hamel, Algeria's chief of the National Security General Department (DGSN), and Cyrille Schott, head of the French Institute for Advanced Studies in Security and Justice, the official APS news agency reported.

The agreement is part of the bilateral security policy of supporting the training of police officials in all specialties, Hamel said, adding that Algerian police has previously cooperated with the French security institution in 2000 when 20 police officials were trained.

He said the agreement also stipulates sharing security experiences and providing training sessions for police officials of both countries.

For his part, Cyrille Schott said the memorandum was a "milestone" which will contribute to fortifying the ongoing 15-year cooperation and partnership between the two sides. Endit
