Georgia's new cabinet wins vote of confidence

Xinhua, May 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Georgia's new cabinet won a confidence vote in the parliament Friday, after hours of intensive debate among lawmakers.

The parliament confirmed that the reshuffled cabinet, which includes three new ministers, Tina Khidasheli, Tariel Khechikashvili and Gigla Abulashvili, with a vote of 87-37.

The confidence vote is required under the constitution when one third of the cabinet is changed. Seven of the 21-member cabinet had been changed this time.

This was the second cabinet reshuffle since Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili took office in 2013. The government last won a confidence vote in July 2014. Endi
