Temir Sariyev was sworn in as Kyrgyz prime minister with all members of the new government present on Wednesday, two weeks after the former prime minister, Joomart Otorbayev, announced his resignation.
The new government led by Sariyev pledged allegiance to the country and its people in front of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and the parliament.
The nomination of Sariyev and the new government were approved on April 30 in the parliament.
Felix Kulov, leader of the Kyrgyz majority parliamentary coalition, said last Wednesday after the nomination of Sariyev that the new head of the government should know well economy, issues about the Customs Union and how to deal with the current challenges. He believed that Sariyev knows all these issues and could start and master his job quickly.
The structure of the new cabinet remained almost the same, only candidates were nominated for the vacant ministerial posts -- the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport and Communications. The other members of the government have remained in their posts.
Sariyev has rich experiences in politics. He has headed the Ministry of Economy since 2011.
Otorbayev, who was named prime minister in April 2014, announced his resignation on April 23 after delivering his government work report for 2014.
It was reported that Otorbayev has been criticized by the opposition in parliament for his failure to properly solve the issue of shareholdings related to the Kumtor gold mine, the largest one in the Central Asian country, and the opposition has demanded his resignation. Endite
