Bahrain police said on Wednesday it arrested a group of individuals suspected of plotting and carrying out a series of terrorist attacks.

Some of those arrested were previously convicted in absentia on terrorism charges and, in some cases, received life-time sentence.

" A large quantity of terrorist materials including high explosives was seized from homes in Janusan and Sitra," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Police said the suspects were stockpiling volatile explosives that endangered the lives and property of those living close-by. Endit
