Nigeria's basketball teams to open camp ahead of AAG, Afrobasket tourney

Xinhua, May 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's basketball teams will open camp on Sunday to adequately prepare for the forthcoming All-Africa Games and the 2015 Afrobasket competition in which they will participate, an official said Tuesday.

President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Tijani Umar said the male and female national basketball teams will camp in the Nigerian capital Abuja, to bring a level-playing field for both the overseas-based and home-based players to compete for places in the teams ahead of the tournaments.

According to the official, the federation will lead the teams to pre-tournament friendly matches lined up in Europe and China, as well as a training tour of the U.S., before the May 30 Afrobasket Women competition kicks off in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire.

The 11th All-Africa Games will, thereafter, hold in Brazzaville, Congo, between Sept. 4 and 19. Endi
