Fifteen Vietnamese archers are attending the first stage of 2015 Archery World Cup in China, as a move to prepare for the approaching SEA Games in Singapore, Vietnam' s General Department of Sports and Physical Training told Xinhua Tuesday.
The Vietnamese women and men athletes, including top archers such as Nguyen Tien Cuong, Dao Trong Kien and Loc Thi Dao, are competing at the two disciplines of Recurve and Compound at the Archery World Cup' s first stage from May 5 to 10 in Shanghai.
According to trainers of the Vietnamese athletes, it is hard for them to bag home medals, but competition experience is of great importance as they will vie for medals at the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in June. Vietnamese archers will compete with rivals from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines.
Vietnam has set a target of grabbing two gold medals at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore like the country did in the previous regional event in Myanmar, said the General Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The General Department has recently invited South Korean archery expert Kim Sun-bin to train Vietnam' s national archery team. In Archery Asia Cup' s second stage in March in Thailand, Vietnamese archers won two silver medals. Endi
