Hosts Vietnam into AFF Women's Championship semifinals

Hosts Vietnam enjoyed a lopsided 7-0 win over Malaysia here Monday evening, surely securing a berth to semifinals of the 2015 AFF Women's Championship.

In the Group B game against Malaysia, Vietnam benched many key players, but still managed to score in the first minute with the credit given to striker Huynh Nhu.

Malaysia spared no efforts to hold out and their efforts paid off as the hosts did not make any more goals in the first half.

Right after the break, Vietnamese defender Tran Thi Hong Nhung blasted home with a header. The second goal led to the collapse of the Malaysian squad.

Vietnamese half-backer Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung made a hat-trick and two assists to seal the win.

After two wins, Vietnam topped Group B, securing a semi berth.

On Tuesday, Laos will face Thailand, and Australia U-20 will take on Indonesia.

Thailand, Australia U-20, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines, are competing at the 2015 AFF Women's Championship which lasts till May 10. In the previous tournament, Japan bagged home the trophy. Endi
