Ding, Liu to vie for singles gold

Top seed Ding Ning fought hard to reach the women's singles final at the world table tennis championships on Saturday.

Ding climbed out of a deep hole that saw her lose the sixth set 11-1, eventually beating teammate Mu Zi 9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6, 1-11, 11-6.

Ding, 2011 world champion, will play against Liu Shiwen for the title.

Liu beat defending champion Li Xiaoxia 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 in the other all-Chinese semifinal. Endi
