Zico offers Adriano FC Goa contract

Former Brazil striker Adriano could be the latest high-profile name to sign for an Indian Super League club.

FC Goa manager and former Brazil great Zico revealed on Facebook that he had offered a contract to the 33-year-old, who has not played regular football since 2010.

"I met up with Adriano at the training center and I was happy to see that he is well and in shape," Zico said on the social media site. "I asked him to play at FC Goa this season."

Adriano has been beset by injuries and personal problems since ending a successful five-year spell at Italy's Internazionale in 2009.

He has 27 goals from 48 matches for Brazil, and was the Selecao 's top scorer in their 2004 Copa America and 2005 Confederations Cup triumphs.

In December Adriano was involved in talks with French Ligue 2 outfit La Havre, but a deal collapsed after businessman Christophe Maillol's attempt to buy the club failed.

Former internationals to feature in the Indian Super League in its debut season last year included Fredrik Ljungberg (Mumbai City) , Robert Pires (FC Goa), David James (Kerala Blasters) and Alessandro Del Piero (Delhi Dynamos). Endite
