Algeria sees China as reliable partner: expert

Xinhua, May 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

The recent visit of Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmamlek Sellal to China reflected the mutual determination of the two nations to advance their economic partnership, a local expert said on Friday.

At the end of his visit to China on Thursday, Sellal told reporters that the friendship between Algeria and China are reliable, adding that the purpose of his visit was to advance economic cooperation between the two countries.

"The timing of the visit of Sellal to China coincides with Algeria's announcement to develop alternative resources to oil related industry," Head of the Algerian-Sino Friendship Association Ismail Debeche told Xinhua.

Debeche said that Algeria sees China as a reliable and strategic economic and political partner, as the north African nation's economy has started being affected by the collapse of oil prices in the global market.

Sellal visited China from Tuesday to Friday. He is the first Algerian head of government to visit China since the north African country won independence in 1962.

During the visit, Sellal said the Algeria-China cooperation can be highly adapted to the Belt and Road initiatives, both blessed with great prospects.

Sellal said the Algerian side is fully confident of the development of the partnership and believes China will be an even stronger partner of Algeria in the African country's economic and social development. Endit
