1st LD-Writethru: Motorbike bomb wounds 5 in S. Afghanistan

Xinhua, April 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least five people sustained injuries as a bomb targeted police vehicle in Helmand's provincial capital Lashkar Gah 555 km south of Kabul on Wednesday, deputy to provincial police chief, Padshah Gul said.

"Terrorists planted explosive device on a motorbike and exploded it next to a police vehicle in Babaji area of Lashkar Gah city as 12:30 p.m. local time, as a result, five people including four civilians and a police constable were injured," Gul told Xinhua.

Although no one has claimed responsibility for the bombing, the official pointed finger at the Taliban militants, saying the armed outfit, by organizing such offensives, attempted to terrorize the people.

Taliban militants fighting the government had launched their so- called spring offensive on April 24 and since then launched several attacks against government interests in Helmand, Kunduz, Baghlan and other parts of the conflict-ridden country. Endi
