Four days after Saturday's major quake struck Nepal, earthquake relief distribution programs are still limited to Nepal's capital, and helpless victims out of Kathmandu valley districts are eagerly awaiting for relief.

Though there has been huge assistance efforts from foreign nations and donor agencies, the government is finding it difficult to manage the post-quake havoc. (Nepal-Quake)

KATHMANDU -- Over 100 mountaineers including dozens of foreign nationals have been rescued in the frozen lake region of Langtang National Park in Nepal following the devastating earthquake, an official said on Wednesday.

"Around 100 foreigners stranded in the area have been taken to Dhunche and we are arranging to airlift them to Kathmandu," Uaddhav Bhattarai, chief officer of Rasuwa District, told Xinhua. (Nepal-Quake)

BANGKOK -- The Bank of Thailand (BOT), or the Thai central bank, on Wednesday decided to reduce the policy rate by 0.25 percentage point from 1.75 to 1.5 percent per annum with immediate effect.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted 5 to 2 to cut the policy rate, with two members voting to maintain it at 1.75 percent, said a statement posted on the bank's website. (Thailand- Rate)

KHOST, Afghanistan, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed while four others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan's Khost province on Tuesday, said the provincial government on Wednesday.

"A civilian vehicle touched off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along a road in Musa Khel district on Tuesday, causing a blast and the explosion left four people killed and four others wounded," it said in a statement issued here. (Afghanistan-Bombing) Endi
