China, Egypt to enhance military cooperation

Chinese and Egyptian senior military officials on Monday pledged to enhance military cooperation between the two countries.

In his meeting with Egyptian Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi,Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission Fan Changlong said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Sisi reached a consensus during Sisi's visit to China last year and giving the future direction for bilateral ties.

Fan said Chinese military values its relationship with the Egyptian military and is willing to bring China-Egypt military ties to a new level.

Sobhi said both countries cherish the traditional friendship and the Egyptian military is willing to work together with the Chinese military to deepen communication and pragmatic cooperation.

Also on Monday, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan held talks with Sobhi.

Chang said China is willing to make joint efforts with Egypt to promote military ties.

Sobhi said Egypt attaches great importance to the friendly relations with China and hopes to strengthen military cooperation in various fields to maintain the peace of the world. Endit
