Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed his deepest sympathy to Nepal and the victims of a Saturday's massive earthquake, which killed at least 3,218 people.

"While attending the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, I am deeply shocked and saddened at the news of the loss and injuries of thousands of lives as well as the immense and extreme destruction and damages to properties caused by the very strong earthquake (on April 25) in the capital of Kathmandu," he wrote in a condolence letter sent to his Nepalese counterpart Shri Sushil Koirala on Sunday and released to the media on Monday.

"At this hour of profound grief and sorrow, on behalf of the Royal government and people of Cambodia and on my own, I would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to Your Excellency and through you to the people of Nepal and members of the bereaved families suffering from this deadly calamitous natural disaster," he said.

The powerful earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday afternoon, leaving at least 3,218 people dead and about 6,500 others injured. Endi
