Xavi, Gerrard make 500 league appearances for one club

Two midfielders joined the 500 club of top European leagues on Saturday.

Xavi and Steven Gerrard made their 500th league appearances for Barcelona and Liverpool in games against Espanyol and West Brom respectively

Xavi has won seven La Liga trophies, two Copa del Reys, three UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and a pair of FIFA Club World Cups. Xavi has scored 57 goals and handed out 96 assists in La Liga.

Liverpool captain Gerrard joins an exclusive list of 12 players (including Gerrard) to have played more than 500 times in the Premier League.

34-year-old Gerrard, who is playing his final season in England's top flight before moving to MLS side LA Galaxy next summer, has picked up honors including two FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Cup, and two UEFA Super Cups.
