Thunder fires head coach Scott Brooks

Xinhua, April 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Oklahoma City Thunder annouced Wednesday that they have fired head coach Scott Brooks.

"This is an extremely difficult decision on many levels," general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. "This decision is not a reflection of this past season, but rather an assessment of what we feel is necessary at this point in time in order to continually evolve, progress and sustain. We determined that, in order to stimulate progress and put ourselves in the best position next season and as we looked to the future, a transition of this kind was necessary for the program."

Brooks coached the Thunder for seven seasons. He was 338-207 with the Thunder and was the 2009-10 NBA Coach of the Year. he led the team to the Western Conference finals three out of four years from 2010-2011, and the Thunder reached the NBA Finals in 2012. The Thunder failed to make the playoffs this past season, as injuries limited them to a 45-37 finish. Endi
