CSKA Moscow heads to the Euroleague Final Four

Xinhua, April 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The journey to the Euroleague Final Four ended for Greek basketball club Panathinaikos after a fierceless game by CSKA Moscow in the playoffs held in Athens on Wednesday.

The Russians, who reach the Final Four for the 12th time in history, won their best-of-five playoffs series with a 3-1 score and head to Madrid, after beating Panathinaikos with 74-55 in game 4 at the city's Olympic sports complex OAKA.

Though the Greeks were hoping to stay alive and return in the Russian capital for the decisive game 5, CSKA Moscow dominated the whole game with their stars Andrei Kirilenko and Nando de Colo.

The Russians led the first quarter which ended 21-11, the Greeks cut the distance in the second quarter, reaching the half time with a 32-37 score, but many small mistakes in the defense of Panathinaikos in the third period gave the space to CSKA to enlarge the advantage.

Nando De Colo was the top scorer of the game, with 18 points for CSKA, while Pappas paced Panathinaikos with 11 points.

"We played great defense, and converted points on offense" , Andrei Kirilenko said after the game. Endi
