Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Indonesia late Tuesday for an Asian-African summit and commemorative activities for the historic 1955 Bandung Conference.

JOHANNESBURG -- Hundreds of immigrants have been repatriated to their home countries following xenophobia attacks, Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said on Tuesday.

PARIS -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla met with high officials of France on the first leg of his European tour, following the improvement of relations between the United States and Cuba earlier this month.

WASHINGTON -- U.S.-led forces targeted Islamic State militants in Syria with 16 airstrikes in the past two days and 48 airstrikes against the group in Iraq, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

Airstrikes in Syria's Hasakah and Kobani destroyed 11 tactical units, a checkpoint, eight fighting positions, and vehicles, mortar units, as well as an anti-aircraft artillery weapon, the DOD statement said. (U.S.-Mideast-Airstrikes )

KHARTOUM -- South Sudan's army Tuesday said it killed 28 rebels in armed clashes in South Sudan's Upper Nile State.

"The rebels, loyal to Riek Machar, attacked Jilshal area Tuesday near Sobat River between Al-Nasir and Malakal towns in the Upper Nile State," Philip Aguer, South Sudan's army spokesman, told Xinhua over the phone from Juba, the capital of South Sudan.(South Sudan-rebels-killed)

RIYADH -- Saudi Defence Ministry announced on Tuesday the end of the war against Houthis that started on March 26, Al Arabiya news reported.

DAMASCUS -- At least 37 armed Islamist militants were killed over the past 24 hours during intense battles with the Syrian government forces in the southern province of Daraa, a monitoring group reported Tuesday.
