Xinhua, April 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Saudi Defence Ministry announced Tuesday the end of the Decisive Storm operation against Houthis launched since March 26, and the commencement of the Return of Hope operation, Al Arabiya news reported.

The ministry cited the reason as the success of air raids which destroyed Houthi heavy weaponry and missiles and eliminated threats against Saudi Arabia and the region.

The Return of Hope operation aims to protect civilians and fight terrorism, resume the political process through the Gulf initiative and national dialogue, evacuate foreigners from Yemen and provide Yemenis with humanitarian aid.

The new operation will also fight any military operation by Houthis and build international cooperation to prevent Houthis from acquiring weapons by air or sea.

The Decisive Storm operation led by Saudi Arabia was carried out in association with Arab and Gulf countries as well as international support from several countries to promote the legitimacy and stability of Yemen. Endit
