Ghana' s Adjei wins CAF Beach soccer goal-king award

Xinhua, April 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana' s Alexander Adjei emerged top scorer at the just-ended maiden Confederation of African Football (CAF) Beach Soccer Cup of Nations tournament in The Seychelles.

Adjei scored 16 goals to win the coveted award even though the Black Sharks, Ghana' s national beach football team, failed to annex the continental trophy.

The Black Sharks, making its first appearance at the Cup of Nations, finished seventh in the championship where eight of Africa' s elite nations competed for honors.

Adjei was also voted man of the match in four games.

The Ghanaian attacker is on the radar of Lion FC, division one football league champions of The Seychelles.

Ghana Coach Daniel Kotey believes the experience gained in The Seychelles will strengthen the national team and the sport in general in Ghana.

Eventual tournament winners Madagascar were the only unbeaten side, winning all their matches in impressive displays.

Madagascar and Senegal will represent Africa at this year' s FIFA beach soccer World Cup in Portugal. Endi
