PSG to visit Barca without captain Thiago Silva

Xinhua, April 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will visit Barcelona Tuesday in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg without injured captain Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian defender was ruled out after failing to recover in time from a thigh problem sustained during first-leg 3-1 defeat last Wednesday.

It had also forced him to miss PSG's 3-1 win over Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

"Having initially being named in the squad for the quarterfinal against Barcelona, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva will not ultimately make the trip," read a club statement.

"The captain of Paris Saint-Germain will therefore remain at the Ooredoo training centre to work on his return to action," it added.

PSG are already without injured midfielder Thiago Motta and suspended Serge Aurier.

Attacking duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti, however, will come back from suspensions after both sitting out the first leg for red card ban. Endi
