Michael Frontzeck takes over struggling Hannover until the end of the season, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Monday.
A couple of hours after the Tayfun Korkut' s dismissal, Hannover announced that former German international Michael Frontzeck takes the helm until the end of the season.
"We have full confidence in Michael Frontzeck, who will help us to remain our top flight status. In the remaining Bundesliga games we have just one objective, and that is to stay in the first division," Hanover' s club president Martin Kind told the club' s official home page.
Hannover still wait for their first win in 2015 hence they sit on the 15th position, just two points adrift of a relegation play-off spot. The heavy 4-0 loss to Leverkusen at the 29th round sealed the dismissal of head coach Tayfun Torkut, who took over in December 2013. It is the 9th coach dismissal of the current Bundesliga season.
New coach Michael Frontzeck will be official introduced on a press conference on Tuesday.
"He knows the Bundesliga and has a wide experience. I am convinced that he will successfully complete the season with the team," sporting director Dirk Dufner said.
The 51-year-old caretaker coached, besides a number of lower leagues sides, Borussia Monchengladbach from 2009 until 2011.
His new club host 8th placed Hoffenheim at the 30th round of Bundesliga on Saturday. Endi
