Some 250 Slovenian police officers were mobilized across Slovenia on Thursday to curb speeding which has become a major killer in the country, Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported on Friday.

The national campaign put a 24-hour speed enforcement marathon in effect which saw 1,225 drivers caught speeding on Thursday, the fastest car was driving at 248 km/h on A1 highway, said the report.

The speed limit on the national highway is 130 km/h.
