Nigerians among seeded players in ITTF World Championships

Some top Nigerian players for this month's International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Championships holding in China made the list of players mainly in the doubles event of the tournament.

The competition is slated from April 26 to May 3 in Suzhou, China.

A statement released by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation ( NTTF) in Lagos on Wednesday noted that in men's singles seeding, Nigeria's Aruna Quadri was the only African listed among the 64 players for the championship.

It said the pair of Quadri and Kazeem Makanjuola had been seeded number 11 in men's doubles released on Tuesday by the ITTF, the world table tennis ruling body.

The African champions, Egyptian players led by the Assar brothers -- Mohammed El-Beiali and El-Sayed Lashin also made the seeding in the doubles.

It also said that in women's doubles, Egypt and Congo Brazzaville made the top 32 seeded teams while in the mixed doubles, Quadri and Edem Offiong as well as the pair of Segun Toriola and Funke Oshonaike, made the list. Endite
