Singapore's FM urges Singaporeans in Yemen to leave immediately

Xinhua, April 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore's Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam on Wednesday urged Singaporeans in Yemen to leave immediately.

As the situation in Yemen deteriorates, the minister call on the Singaporeans not put themselves in serious risk. Shanmugam said Singapore's own ability to rescue its citizens becomes limited.

More than 40 Singaporeans, including students, homemakers and business people, still remain in Yemen. A total of 25 Singaporeans have left the country over the past two weeks.

Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry has deployed a Crisis Response Team (CRT) in Oman and is planning another wave of evacuation in the near future. The ministry has issued three travel advisories on Yemen up to now since the situation there became worse in September last year. Endi
