Tokyo shares end lower on concerns over China, U.S. slowdown

Tokyo shares ended lower on Wednesday as concerns over slowdown in the United States and China weighed on investors' sentiment here.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 38.92 points, or 0.20 percent, from Tuesday at 19,869.76.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.01 points, or 0.13 percent, lower at 1,588.81.

Decliners were led by pharmaceuticals, brokerages and fisheries, while gainers included mining.

The turnover was about 2,322.9 billion yen (about 19.40 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
