The murder case of "ghost of Al-Reem island," where an Emirati woman is accused of having stabbed an American teacher and resident of the United Arab Emirates in last December, was adjourned to April 21 by the federal supreme court on Tuesday, state news agency WAM reported.
The court also ordered a medical committee to examine the defendant and issue a report on her mental condition to determine how competent she was at the time of committing the crime.
The defendant Emirati woman claimed in the last hearing that she was mentally ill and not aware of what she did.
The public prosecutors accused the Emirati woman of stabbing American school teacher Ibolya Ryan to death in a mall on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 1, 2014.
According to a video shown in the court, the defendant also attempted to kill a family residing in an apartment at Al Habtour Tower on Abu Dhabi corniche by planting a self-made bomb. She ignited the bomb but it had failed to detonate, the WAM reported. Endit
