Singapore economy grew by 2.1 percent on a year-on- year basis in the first quarter of 2015, the same rate of growth as that achieved in the previous quarter, said Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in a press release on Tuesday.

On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted annualized basis, Singapore economy expanded at a slower pace of 1.1 percent compared to 4.9 percent in the preceding quarter, said the MTI. ( Singapore-Economy)

SARIPUL, Afghanistan -- Afghan security forces have killed 10 Taliban militants and injured five others in the northern Saripul province since weekend, deputy to provincial police chief Anayatullah Azizi said Tuesday.

"Units of security forces launched operations against Taliban militants in Qala-e-Sokhta area outside Saripul provincial capital the Saripul city on Friday evening and so far 10 rebels have been killed and five others injured," Nazari told Xinhua. (Afghanistan- Taliban-Fighting)

TOKYO -- A German correspondent in Tokyo has condemned the government of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's control over critical reporting, asking the country to explain more to people.

Carsten Germis, who works for the Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), described how he was subjected to insults from Japanese Foreign Ministry (MOFA) due to one of his article in which he criticized Abe's historical revisionism. (Japan-German- Condemnation)

NEW DELHI -- A nationwide terror alert has been issued in India, particularly in Mumbai, following intelligence inputs of a possible attack by Pakistan-based banned militant outfit Lashkar-e- Toiba, sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, intelligence agencies warned that terrorists may storm hotels and railway stations in Mumbai, on the lines of 2008 terror attacks, after entering the country's financial capital by sea-route. (India-Terror Alert) Endi
