Hollande's popularity suffers setback in April

Xinhua, April 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande's approval ratings, earlier boosted by his quick handling of January's Charlie Hebdo terror attacks, were hit by a decline in April over ongoing economic concerns, a survey showed Monday.

An Opinionway poll for LCI television showed Hollande had a 21 percent approval rating, down 4 percentage points from a month earlier, mirroring French citizens' concern over the ailing economy and rising unemployment.

With unemployment at 10 percent, limp growth and rising pressure to reduce France's public deficit, Hollande has previously asked the French people to judge him on his long-term bid to address the country's economic and financial problems.

The survey questioned 1,001 respondents on from April 7 to 9. Enditem
