Guerrero tests point to Dengue, says hospital

Xinhua, April 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Corinthians and Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero remains in hospital after test results on Sunday indicated he is suffering from Dengue fever.

The 31-year-old was admitted to Sao Paulo's Sao Luiz hospital on Saturday with high fever, nausea and aches.

"Clinical and laboratory evaluations point to Dengue, however the diagnosis still hasn't been concluded," the hospital said in a statement. "The patient is stable and there is no prediction of when he will be released."

Guerrero is almost certain to miss Corinthians' Copa Libertadores group match against defending champions San Lorenzo in Sao Paulo on Thursday.

Capped 56 times for Peru, Guerrero is Corinthians' top scorer in 2015 with 12 goals from 17 matches.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne tropical disease whose symptoms include fever, skin rashes headache, muscle and join pains. In rare cases it can develop into a life-threatening hemorrhagic fever. Endi
