One person was killed and three others sustained injury in an accidental grenade blast in Borjhar district of India's northeastern Assam state on Sunday, said police.

The blast took place when a scrap dealer found a round metal- like object in the scraps he had collected Saturday evening. He hit the object with a hammer, killing himself.

Three members of his family were injured in the incident.

India's northeastern region, including Assam, is haunted by small scale incidents of violence perpetuated by some militant tribal or communal groups. Endi
