EU condemns killing of aid workers in Afghanistan

European Commissioner for humanitarian aid and crisis management Christos Stylianides on Saturday condemned the recent murder of five people working for international NGO in Afghanistan.

"I strongly call on all parties to ensure that humanitarian organizations have unhindered and safe access to the people in need who are suffering the consequences of years of conflict," Stylianides said in a statement.

He added that violence against aid workers is a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law.

Media reports said that the bodies of five aid workers working for the organization of Save the Children were found on Friday in the south of Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the provincial governor blamed the Taliban for the deaths. Endit
