French PM encourages bilateral investment with Portugal

Visiting French Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Friday encouraged bilateral investment between France and Portugal.
He made the remarks at a meeting with the Portuguese business community in Lisbon, the Lusa news agency reported.
He called on Portugal to invest in France, and highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between both countries.
"We would like to see an even stronger presence of France in Portugal," he said, recalling the acquisition of state-owned Portuguese airport operator ANA by French construction company VINCI, a mjoar foreign investment carried out in Portugal.
Valls pointed out that French companies invest 6 billion euros (6.36 U.S. dollars) in Portugal annually.
"France is the second largest foreign investor in Portugal, which few French people know," he said.
There are over 750 French companies in Portugal in the energy, automobile and banking sectors, generating an annual business volume of 9.5 billion euros, according to Portuguese financial daily Jornal de Negocios. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollars) Endit
