At least three civilians were killed and four others injured as a suicide car bombing targeted a foreign military convoy near Nangarhar airport, Nangarhar provincial police chief Fazal Ahmad Shirzad said.
"A terrorist riding explosive-laden car blew it up next to a military convoy of foreign forces in Barg-e-Now area, a suburban area outside Nangarhar airport at around 10:00 a.m. local time today, killing three passersby and injuring four others," Shirzad told Xinhua.
The attacker was also killed in the blast, the official added.
More details will reach to media after completion of investigation, he said.
Meanwhile, a doctor, speaking with Xinhua on condition of anonymity, confirmed that four dead bodies and 12 injured persons have been taken to hospital in Jalalabad city.
Mohammad Allah, an eye witness at the site of the blast, said the casualties might be higher than reported by the officials, as the blast damaged several vehicles including one from foreign troops.
Parts of Nangarhar province, with Jalalabad city as its capital, has been the scene of militancy over the past couple of years. Endi
