Jack Nicklaus hits hole-in-one in Par 3 Contest

Xinhua, April 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jack Nicklaus, the 75-year-old golf legend, thrilled the crowd as he made his first Masters hole-in-one during the Par 3 Contest here on Wednesday.

"I've never had a hole in one at Augusta. It's kind of fun," said Nicklaus. "I enjoy the Par 3 because I can actually play it because it's not long."

Jack Nicklaus, nicknamed "The Golden Bear", is widely regarded as the greatest professional golfer of all time, winning a total of 18 career major championships, while producing 19 second-place and 9 third-place finishes in them, over a span of 25 years.

It's also the first time Tiger Woods, the four-time Masters champion, ever play the Par 3 Contest since 2004. "We had an absolutely great time. These were memories for a lifetime, " Woods, with his children Sam and Charlie as caddies, said.

Kevin Streelman and Camilo Villegas Kevin claimed the Par 3 champs of the 2015 Masters tournament at 5-under. The Par 3 is a relaxed and unique event not only because children, spouses and parents take over caddie duties, enjoying the family time with players, but also no one is trying to win due to the fact that the Par 3 champion has never won the green jacket in the same year by far.
