The Silk Road Initiative has been introduced as the new model of cooperation for the 21th century at the Eurasian Economy Summit in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Ministers and high level figures from 40 countries convened for the 18th Eurasian Economic Summit with a special session on "An Economic Bridge: Silk Road."

Wang Yiwei, senior fellow at the China Renmin University of China, said the modern Silk Road will accelerate the transformation of the world from West-centric globalization to inclusive globalization, as the project is open to any country.

The attendants of the summit achieved a consensus on the positive contribution of China's economic strength and its experiences io the development of the projects, including high-speed trains, nuclear plants, technology and infrastructure.

Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin also underlined the fruitful opportunities presented by the Silk Road projects.

Speaking about the contribution of Turkey to the project, Sahin said Turkey, with its unique geographical location and political and economic stability, plays a critical role in the revival of the Silk Road.

During the two-day summit, participants will also discuss the challenges and opportunities in the sectors of telecommunication, transportation, energy and finance. Endit
