As many as 40 rebels were either killed or wounded Tuesday when a car bomb targeted their position in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, a monitoring group reported.
The car bomb tore through the headquarters of a rebel group in the Hawar al-Kalas area in the city of Mare', located 25 km north of Aleppo, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The blast was followed by an intense fighting between the Islamic State (IS) group and rival jihadist groups in several areas near Mare', the Observatory added, spelling no further details.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-funded al-Arabiya TV said the car bomb killed 30 rebels of the al-Sham Front group, a coalition of five rebel groups formed late last year in Aleppo.
No party has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, but the opposition reports suggest that the explosion could have been carried out by IS militants. Endit
