Ivankovic may coach Iran's Persepolis

Xinhua, April 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Iran national soccer coach Branko Ivankovic is a candidate to take charge of Iranian Persepolis soccer club, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

The Croatian Ivankovic will more likely replace Hamid Derakhshan who resigned from his role as the head coach of Tehran's popular soccer team on Sunday.

Derakhshan replaced the Iranian legend Ali Daei in September but was forced to quit after poor results.

With six weeks remaining, Persepolis currently is ninth in the Iran Professional League (IPL).

The Iranian popular team will host Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday in Group A of the AFC Champions League in Tehran's Azadi Stadium. Endi
