U.S. President Barack Obama on Saturday turned to the public for support to continued nuclear talks with Iran toward a final deal, one day after a framework pact was reached.

In his weekly radio and online address, Obama described the tentative deal as a "good" one that meets U.S. "core objectives" and cuts off "every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon." (U.S.-Iran-Nuke)

PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan -- Some five people were killed while seven others wounded in a bomb attack in northern Afghan province of Baghlan on Saturday, the police said.

"A bomb attached to a motorcycle was exploded when an army vehicle was passing a road in provincial capital of Pul-e-Khumir, leaving five passers-by killed," provincial police spokesman Jawid Basharat told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Blast)

MANILA -- At least 10,000 people, including foreign and domestic tourists, were evacuated ahead of the expected landfall of tropical storm Maysak, locally named as Chedeng, in northern Philippine province of Aurora, a senior government official said Saturday.

Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera said that aside from Auroa, other local government units of the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan, and Quirino were also directed to enforce pre-emptive evacuation. (The Philippines-Storm Evacuation)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Six people including two government officials were killed in a civilian helicopter crash Saturday in Malaysia's southeastern suburbs of Kuala Lumpur, officials sources said.

Malaysian Home Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that parliament member and former special envoy to the United States Jamaluddin Jarjis was among the six people on board the helicopter which crashed in Semenyih, Kajang, about 40 kilometers southeast of Kuala Lumpur. GARISSA, Kenya -- A total of 663 survivors of the Garissa attack left Garissa town Saturday to their respective homes.

The survivors, including 50 school staff, took 13 buses from Garissa military camp where they had camped two days as colleagues and community members came in large number to see them off. (Kenya-attack)

DAMASCUS -- The Islamic State (IS) group and al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front have become in control of over 90 percent of a main Palestinian refugee camp south of the Syrian capital of Damascus, a monitoring group said Saturday.

The capture of Yarmouk Camp, 5 km south of Damascus, by the Nusra and the IS groups came after four days of intense battles with the rival jihadist group, Aknaf Beit al-Maqdes, which has been in control of the camp since 2013. (Syria-IS-Palestinian Camp) Endi
