Xinhua, April 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

An undersea quake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted the eastern parts of Indonesia on Saturday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake, which occurred at 15:06 Jakarta time (0806 GMT), was centered 95 km northwest Seram Bagian Barat of Maluku province with a depth of 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua.

Indonesia is prone to quake as it sits on a vulnerable quake- hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire." Endi
