Xinhua, April 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff on Friday attended the wake of Thomaz Rodrigues Alckmin, son of Sao Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin, who was killed in a helicopter crash Thursday afternoon.

Rousseff lamented the death of Thomaz in a note Thursday evening, expressing her sympathy and condolences to Governor Geraldo Alckmin and his wife, and to relatives and friends of others also killed in the accident.

The helicopter crashed into a house in a residential area of Carapicuiba, Sao Paulo state, at around 17:20 local time Thursday, killing all the five people aboard, including the governor's youngest son, Thomaz. Residents of the area said the helicopter crashed near a supermarket.

Thomaz, 31, is survived by two daughters, a ten-year-old and a one-month old. The Alckmin family were heartbroken and expressed gratitude for the sympathy, the state government's statement said Friday morning.

The air crash didn't cause other casualties on the ground. A professional team was sent to investigate the cause of the accident.

The aircraft, model EC 155 made by Eurocopter with capacity of nine passengers, was registered with the Seripatri Holdings, owned by Jose Seripieri Junior.

The helicopter crashed during a test flight after the preventive maintenance and was about four years of use, according to Seripatri. Endite
