A female attacker was killed and two policemen were wounded on Wednesday in an armed attack outside Turkey's Istanbul police headquarters, private Dogan News Agency reported.

The traffic in the Vatan street was closed and ambulances were sent to the scene, the report added.

Earlier in the day, a gunman was detained as he occupied the building of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Istanbul and raised a flag with a sword figure at the window of the top floor of the building.
