Torch for 2015 European Games to be ignited in April

The torch for the 2015 European Games will be ignited on April 26, Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov said here on Wednesday.

The torch will be lit in Baku and then travel through Azerbaijani regions and transferred by sports celebrities to the host city, according to the minister.

The torch will be then used to start the flame of the European Games in the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The 2015 European Games will be the inaugural edition of the quadrennial multi-sport competitions, featuring athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in Europe.

It will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 12 to 28 and attract over 6,000 athletes from 50 NOCs competing in 20 sports. Endi
