Cambodian, Indonesian FM discuss bilateral, ASEAN issues

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodian and Indonesian foreign ministers discussed ways to further enhance ties and cooperation between the two countries on Wednesday.

"We discussed a number of issues to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation," Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong told reporters after he met with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi.

Both sides also agreed to boost bilateral trade volume, which was still relatively small -- around 500,000 U.S. dollars last year, he said.

Hor Namhong said he also asked Indonesia to increase rice purchase from Cambodia and called for direct flights from Indonesia to Cambodia in order to boost economy, trade and tourism.

The two ministers also exchanged views on ASEAN, which will be transformed into a community by the end of this year.

Retno Marsudi arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday for a two-day introductory visit to Cambodia. Endi
