Tokyo shares end lower by break on weak business survey

Tokyo shares ended lower by break Wednesday as sentiment here was hit by a weaker-than-expected business confidence among major manufacturers in a Bank of Japan survey.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged 171.36 points, or 0. 89 percent, from Tuesday to end the morning session at 19,035.63.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 16.74 points, or 1.08 percent, to 1, 526.37. Endi
