Third Africa-China Young Leaders Forum opens in Tanzania

The third Africa-China Young Leaders Forum opened Saturday in northern Tanzania's tourist hub of Arusha, attracting over 400 delegates from 40 African nations and China to promote youth exchange and cooperation.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, praised the achievement that China and African countries has made in terms of promoting exchanges and cooperation among young people.
Wang, also head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, announced that China will further promote mechanism building of the forum and invite 1,000 young African political figures to visit China and attend training classes in the next three years.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, also chairman of the African Union said during the opening ceremony that the relationship between Africa and China started long time ago and will be there for generations.
"China is the true friend of Africa and this friendship will continue to grow," the 91-year-old leader said, vowing to actively promote the existing China-Africa cooperation.
The AU leader commended the Chinese government for its socio- economic assistance to Africa.
"China has a very high contribution in African development. Africa has a good record with China. They have been assisting us in a number of developmental projects," Mugabe said amid applause.
The idea of the forum is to extensively discuss youth participation in development and how African youth and China will cooperate to utilize business opportunities available in both parties.
The main objective of the forum is to create a platform for regular interaction and cooperation between young people of the African continent and China.
The forum is co-sponsored by the CPC and Tanzanian ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi. Endi
