American horse Tamarkuz wins Godolphin mile at Dubai world cup

Five-year-old Tamarkuz, owned by Dubai crown prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, won the second race of the 20th edition of the annual horse race series Dubai world cup here on Saturday.
Tamarkuz, ridden by jockey Paul Hanagan and trained by renowned Emirati champion trainer Musabah Al-Muhairi, finished the 1,600 meters long dirt track, the Godolphin mile, in 1 minute and 36.81 seconds. Rivals Sloane Avenue from the United States and Free Wheeling from Australia came second and third, respectively.
The top three snatched prize money worth 600,000 U.S. dollars, 200,000 dollars and 100,000 dollars, respectively.
The race which was open to four years and older thoroughbreds marked the second victory of a horse owned by the Dubai crown prince at this year's Dubai world cup, the world's richest horse race where a total of 29.250 million dollars is distributed at nine races. Enditem
