Lavrov, Kerry agree on possible ministerial meeting over Iran nuclear program

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry agreed in a phone call on the possibility of holding a ministerial meeting over Iran nuclear program in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Sunday, Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday.

Lavrov and Kerry agreed that Moscow and Washington share similar views on many aspects of the issue, and that the foreign ministers of Iran and major powers could meet in Lausanne on March 29, the ministry said.

They also discussed the progress made in negotiations concerning Tehran's nuclear program between Iran and the P5+1 group, namely the United States, China, Russia, France and Britain plus Germany, according to the ministry.

A new round of nuclear talks began Thursday in the Swiss city of Lausanne, with Kerry and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif back at the negotiating table, a sign that a possible framework agreement might be within reach by the end of this month. Endite
