Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit Singapore on Sunday to attend the state funeral for former Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew, the government said on Friday.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga announced the prime minister's trip to the country at a press briefing.

According to local reports, other regional leaders will also attend the funeral.

Lee, known as Singapore's founding father, died Monday at the age of 91. He served as the prime minister of Singapore from 1965 to 1990, and later served as a senior minister and minister mentor after stepping down from the first chair. Endi
