Gross sales from the world's largest rodeo show exceeded 47 million U.S. dollars despite bad weather conditions, organizers said Wednesday.
Nearly 2.5 million fans weathered several days of drizzle or pouring rain during the 20-day Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that ended Sunday, said the show's accounting office.
"Fortunately the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has a wide variety of fun, educational activities, plus diverse shopping and dining opportunities, both indoors and out," Joel Cowley, the rodeo's president and chief executive officer, told Xinhua.
"Although we would have preferred 20 days of sunshine, our visitors were able to enjoy the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo experience, regardless of the weather," he said.
The annual rodeo show kicked off at a downtown park in Houston on March 3, with the country's best breeds of livestock on display.
The first Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was held in 1932, and has became the biggest event in the fourth largest U.S. city since then. Endi
